Gin is my favourite tipple and I’m always on the hunt for new and exciting gins to try out. Craft Gin Club is described as the UK’s largest club for gin lovers, so I was eager to find out more about them! Set up by two fellow gin lovers, Jon and John, Craft Gin Club was the result of a successful pitch to Dragon’s Den back in 2016. Since then, the subscription club has grown rapidly and they specialise in sourcing craft gins that are usually not available in UK shops.
As a member of the Craft Gin Club, you’ll receive a surprise box every month which will contain:-
- A full-size bottle of premium craft gin
- Exciting mixers including premium tonic waters
- Sweet & savoury foodie treats
- GINNED! club magazine
- Free delivery in the UK
That’s right – this subscription will send you a FULL-SIZE bottle of high-quality craft gin EVERY MONTH! To say I was excited to open their March box is something of an understatement.
Let’s take a closer look at this month’s Craft Gin Club:-
Gin of the Month: ELG Gin No. 1 (700ml, 47.2%)
This month’s featured gin is ELG Gin No. 1, which comes all the way from Denmark. This premium Danish gin is described as a ‘perfectly calibrated combination of just three botanicals’, and these are Juniper, Coriander Seed and locally-grown Carrot. Distilled in Fredensborg, Denmark, this superb craft gin has a strong Juniper flavour, however, there are subtle touches of Tangerine, Black Pepper and Lemongrass, which also come through. This is a fantastic gin to enjoy on its own on the rocks, and as part of a classic G&T.
Also in the box this month, you’ll find:-
- Bonne Maman Marmalade (one of three flavours – I received Bitter Orange)
- Newton’s Appl Fizzics Just Apple
- Franklin & Sons Natural Light Tonic Water
- Pipers Crisps in Jalapeno & Dill flavour
- Divine Chocolate in Dark Chocolate and Hazelnut
I was very impressed by these premium drinks and snacks and feel that they add even further value to an already exceptional box. The crisps and chocolate were both delicious, I’m already a fan of the Franklin Tonic Waters and the Newton’s Appl Fizzics is lovely to enjoy either with gin or own its own as an adult soft drink.
At first, I had no idea why a jar of marmalade had been included until I read the GINNED! magazine and came across a dedicated feature of how to use marmalade in cocktails – how clever!
The GINNED! magazine is a brilliant read and has an interesting in-depth feature on the making of the ELG gin, alongside lots of innovative cocktail recipes and guidance on choosing the best mixers to go with them.
Naturally, I couldn’t wait to try out the products and I thoroughly enjoyed the ELG Gin No.1 as part of a Gin & Tonic with the Franklin & Sons Naturally Light Tonic Water. A beautiful, classic and clean-tasting G&T!
I was also curious to try the marmalade in a cocktail, and followed the recipe for the Marmalade G&T. You definitely have to shake this quite a lot and I may have added a little too much marmalade into this, but it was delicious nonetheless and something that I’ll certainly be experimenting with further!
