If you love perfume, enjoy experimenting with different scents, or just looking to find your signature scent, Secret Scent Box is a terrific way to explore the options of the perfume world.
Every month they send you three different vials of scent, along with scent notes cards, which are incredibly useful for learning more about the scents you enjoy.
Calvin Klein – CK Reveal
Reveal is very strong on the woody and peppery notes, which give it both warmth and spice. It could almost be considered a unisex fragrance, as there aren’t really any discernible florals, and it’s not a ‘sweet’ perfume. That being said, I really like the relative neutrality of it, it could be worn as an everyday perfume without trying to make some kind of statement. The slight saltiness reminds me of beaches, though it’s not a summery perfume. Overall, unusual but a lovely discovery.
DKNY – Be 100% Delicious
By contrast, Be 100% Delicious, which was released last year, is fruity, fun, and definitely feminine. The fruity top notes give way to the florals quite quickly, and the woody base notes, especially the sandalwood, save it from being overly sweet once it dries down. While it leans more to the youth market, it has enough depth to add some sophistication. It feels like a lovely summer scent, that would work well both day and evening.
Escada – Fairy Love
This is another fruity scent with a fair degree of sweetness. While the hazelnut base note does cut the sweetness a little, I find this much more of the candy-type scent, a bit like a body spray for very young women. It’s pleasant enough and the juicy notes are fun, but I find it quite reminiscent of boiled sweets. The bottle is cute though!
