Domaine Bersan Bourgogne Aligoté 2017
History: The Bersan family have been growing vines and making wine on their land for more than five centuries so this house is steeped in history. They have adapted over the years to marry together traditional farming methods with more high tech and modern approaches and this allows them to create wines that have a contemporary twist.
Grape: 100% Aligoté
Senses: In the glass, this white wine has a clear and sensational shade of straw yellow and it has a pleasant aroma to match. On the palate, it has a pleasant bone-dry, fresh and medium-bodied quality with a smooth texture. The fruity notes of Apple and Green Lemon come through the strongest which allows this wine to be perfectly paired with a variety of fish dishes and fruity and refreshing desserts such as Melon Sorbet.
Domaine Haut-Loubier Saint-Chinian 2018
History: Winemakers since 2000, Jean-Marc Loubier has decided to turn his estate to organic agriculture in the upcoming years, which makes sense as Domaine Haut-Loubier is located at the border of Haut-Languedoc National Park which is a complex ecosystem with a highly protected biodiversity. Wines produced in this region benefit from being in one of the warmest climates in France so the blend of grapes that Loubier has chosen here produce powerfully fresh and refined wines.
Grape: 45% Syrah, 45% Mourvèdre and 10% Grenache.
Senses: A deep and shiny ruby red colour marks this wine with a pleasant and expressive aroma. It has an intense, bone-dry and fresh quality with abundantly strong tannins and an overall silky texture. It’s easy to detect many black fruits here such as Blackberries and Cassis with plenty of Pepper and a hint of Coffee. This wine suits Ham and Beef dishes and can be served alongside Chocolate Truffles after dinner.
