Lick My Dip continues to impress me with their hot sauce themed boxes, that showcase some of the very best products from independent chilli producers. I always find new favourites every month that make my tastebuds scream out for more, and August’s Ultimate Box is no exception. In fact, this is my favourite Lick My Dip box that they’ve brought out so far!
The August Ultimate Box features six full-size products, and I was pleasantly surprised by how heavy it was when the postman handed it to me. As always, any glass items were individually bubble wrapped to ensure safe arrival, and the box itself is a made of sturdy thick cardboard. So let’s see what’s inside shall we? 
The Cambridge Chili Sauce Co. Smoked Scotch Bonnet and Red Pepper Sauce (150ml bottle – RRP £4.50)
I’ve tried plenty of Scotch Bonnet sauces and lots of straight up Red Pepper sauces, but never one with the two combined. Not only that, but this one’s smoked as well! It’s made by smoking Sweet Red Peppers and Scotch Bonnet chillies over maple wood, and let me tell you, it’s simply amazing. When I unscrewed the lid, my nose was instantly greeted with the most incredible rich, smoky, hot, barbecue scent and it tasted even better than that. Despite it only arriving at the end of last month, I’m almost half-way through the bottle already because it’s just that good. I’ve been putting it on literally everything; burgers, scrambled eggs, roasted veggies, pasta, couscous etc, and I need another bottle (or ten) ASAP!
Hot-Headz Who Dares Burns! Naga Chilli Peanuts (60g – RRP £1.99)
Dusted with a fiery mix of Naga chilli powder, these peanuts really do hit the spot for when you’re craving a snack with a lot of heat. At first, they don’t seem to be too hot as you just get that initial flavour of peanuts, and then the Naga chilli really starts to creep up on you! I could only manage a few of these at a time, but they go very well with a cold beer or cider. Oh and side note, make sure that you carefully wash your hands after munching on these!
Harry Brand Harissa Mayonnaise (175g – RRP £3.49)
Combining two of my favourite things, this Harissa Mayonnaise from Harry Brand is the spicy mayo I’ve been looking for all my life. I often add chilli sauce to ordinary plain mayo as a side condiment, so this is heaven for me. It’s more of a subtle spicy heat and one that’s I’ve been enjoying with burgers, sandwiches, and as a dip for nachos. Very versatile and so delicious.
Mr Vikkis Banana Habanero (225g – RRP £3.75)
I have to admit that I let out a squeal of joy when I unwrapped this. A friend brought me a jar back from a food festival about two years ago and it was the best pickle/chilli that I’ve ever tried. I haven’t had it since then though, but it tastes exactly like how I remember! Mr Vikki’s Banana Habanero is based on a recipe that took over four years to perfect, and it’s gone on to win three Great Taste Awards. It’s such a unique mix of bananas, ginger and habanero chillies, that makes it have this awesome sweet and spicy flavour. Works great on all sorts of sandwiches and burgers, and I’m so happy to have it back in my cupboard.

Hot-Headz! Liquorice and Hot Chilli Gummies (75g – RRP £1.99)
Although I’m not the biggest fan of liquorice, I have to say that these were pretty good as the chilli and cherry flavours definitely helped to mix it up. Lovely subtle heat to them too. My housemates happily ate the rest of the bag when I wasn’t looking!
Tubby Tom’s Super Hots Death Dust (50g – RRP £4.95)
If you ever go to Nandos and secretly wish that their Peri Peri salt was much hotter, Tubby Tom’s Death Dust is what you need. This is like Peri Peri salt times a million and takes it to a whole new level. Blended with Carolina Reaper chillies, this salty Death Dust adds a chilli kick to any savoury dish and is crazy addictive. My favourite way to currently have it is sprinkled onto some homemade fried patatas bravas like so:-
August’s Ultimate Lick My Dip box has introduced me to several new chilli favourites and I loved how varied the contents were. Even my mum tried the Harissa mayo, yet she’d never eat harissa in anything else!
