Ever wanted to have your very own cocktail bar at home, complete with everything that you needed to make a range of delicious drinks for you and your friends? Well, MicroBarBox is very similar to that! Their monthly Cocktail Club Box consists of a carefully chosen selection of spirits and mixers all in one convenient box, so that you can make around 4-6 cocktails, without the need to buy expensive full-size bottles or rush out to the shops last minute to pick up a lemon.
Each month will feature a different range of alcoholic cocktails for you to make, so it’s a great way to try out and explore drinks that you might not have tasted before, as well as enjoying some good old classics.
November’s MicroBarBox arrived recently and let me tell you – it exceeded all of my expectations!
The box arrived beautifully presented, with each bottle having its own compartment and there was cushioning to protect them during transit. What an amazing selection!
I received:-
1 x Kraken Rum
1 x Martin Miller’s Gin
1 x Bailey’s Coffee Flavour
1 x Chase Vodka
1 x Fentiman’s Pink Grapefruit Tonic Water
1 x Fentiman’s Ginger Beer
1 x Fresh Lime
1 x Small Vial of Bitters
On top of the box was a handy double-sided card which illustrated how to make all of November’s cocktails, of which there are six in total. Let’s do this!
Cocktail 1: The Perfect Storm
This one called for 1/2 the bottle of Kraken Rum, 1/2 Fentiman’s Ginger Beer and a handful of ice, served in a highball glass. I really enjoyed this cocktail – I’m a huge fan of Kraken anyway, but combined with the Ginger Beer, it was a deliciously spicy and different drink!
Cocktail 2: Daiquiri
A classic Daiquiri seems like a long cry from the popular ‘frozen cocktails’ that you see in all the trendy bars now, but it’s one that will never go out of style! I combined the other half of the Kraken Rum with 2 tsp of Lime juice and 2tsp of Caster Sugar (not provided) in a shaker and then poured it into a martini glass. I did, however, forget to chill the glass before serving, so I added a few ice cubes to finish off this boozy favourite.
Cocktail 3: Pink Gin
Gin is perhaps my all-time favourite spirit and Martin Miller’s Gin was an excellent choice for this month’s box. This simple Pink Gin drink used 1/2 the bottle of Gin, a splash of Bitters and a few ice cubes. Delicious!
Cocktail 4: Espresso Martini
My favourite cocktail from this box was the Espresso Martini – maybe because I haven’t had any Bailey’s since around this time last year so it felt like a real treat! To make it, I combined the full mini bottle of Bailey’s Coffee with 1/2 of the Chase Vodka for an ultra-satisfying coffee flavoured cocktail. So, so good.
Cocktail 5: Moscow Mule
This Moscow Mule was made with 1/2 Fentiman’s Ginger Beer, 1/2 Chase Vodka, 1sp of Lime juice and a splash of Bitters, served in a copper mug. The Ginger Beer gave it a really nice spicy kick!
Cocktail 6: Gin & Pink Grapefruit
The sixth and final cocktail was the beautifully simple Gin & Pink Grapefruit which was made from 1/2 Martin Miller’s Gin, the can of Fentiman’s Pink Grapefruit Tonic Water and a handful of ice, served in a highball glass. This is the kind of cocktail that I would order on a night out with friends and I really enjoyed it!
