Fancy receiving a box jam-packed full of authentic American candy, snacks and drinks every month? Meet Taffy Mail! They specialise in bringing you the best of what America has to offer, so if you love trying out new snacks and food products that are hard to find here in the UK, read on!
When you sign up to Taffy Mail, you can choose between three different types of monthly subscription to suit a range of budgets; Lite, Classic and Extra, with the differences between them being how many products you receive and how much they cost. The Extra boxes are very big and contain larger products such as cereal, more expensive products or special limited edition flavours.
February’s Extra Taffy Mail box arrived recently and my housemates and I have been enjoying trying out all of these American goodies. Here’s what we found inside:-
Uncle Rays Kosher Dill Flavoured Potato Chips
First up, we have a large bag of ‘chips’ or rather crisps, from Uncle Rays in an unusual Kosher Dill flavour. I haven’t seen anything like this in the UK, so I was excited to try it out. They’re very strange! Part tangy Pickle, part herby Dill, they’re also quite salty but oddly addictive.
Jolly Rancher Hard Candy Bag
This big share bag of Jolly Ranchers went down particularly well in my house and I loved the mix of fruity flavours included; there’s Blue Raspberry, Green Apple, Cherry, Grape and Watermelon – yum!
Southeastern Mills Buttermilk Pancake Mix
It was Pancake Day the other day and naturally, I had to make some, so I was super happy to see this pancake mix in this month’s box – nice one Taffy Mail! These were very easy to make as you just need to add water to them, and they turned out pretty well. Not as sweet as I was expecting, but when you add your maple syrup and extra toppings, they’re amazing.
Mrs Freshley’s Texas Cinnamon Roll
Speaking of sweet things, this Texas Cinnamon Roll from Mrs Freshley’s was incredibly sweet, perhaps to the point where it was too sweet for me to fully enjoy it, but my housemates were more than happy to finish off what I left! This was a huge portion size too – definitely one you can share.
Duff Energy Drink
Remember Duff Beer from The Simpsons? Well, this is Duff, but in an energy drink format! It’s a ‘wonderful orange flavour’ which is very fruity and refreshing, and it certainly helps to perk you up!
Reese’s Peanut Butter Topping
Like many, I love anything from Reese’s and their popular Peanut Butter Topping is deliciously sweet. You can pour this over virtually anything (it’s really good on pancakes or ice cream), or simply treat yourself to a spoonful or two – mmmm.
Marpro Yum Yum Candy Cones
These ice cream shaped wafer candy cones have appeared in Taffy Mail boxes before, and they’re a fun sugary treat when you want a break from chocolate. You get two cones in the pack and they’re fat free – yay!
Pop Rocks Strawberry
Pop Rocks are the original popping candy and this strawberry flavoured pack was like a blast from the past. Very fun indeed!
Kool Aid Strawberry Kiwi Drink Mix
I’m not the biggest fan of Kool Aid, but I have to admit that this unsweetened Strawberry Kiwi flavour wasn’t all that bad. Not something that I would probably drink again, but it was good to try.
Synder’s of Hanover Pretzel Pieces in Hot Buffalo Wing flavour
Next up, I found a bag of Synder’s famous pretzel pieces in their popular Hot Buffalo Wing flavour and these are pretty spicy which I loved! I’d definitely buy these again if I saw them and they go really well with a cold drink like beer or cider.
Sour Patch Kids in Berries flavour
Sour Patch Kids are one of my favourite American candies (I love anything sour) and these have a really cool sour then sweet flavour to them. Each one is a different fruity berry flavour too.
Boyer Mallo Cup
I’ve tried Mallo Cups before and they’re really good. Imagine a Reese’s cup, but filled with marshmallow and dessicated coconut instead of peanut butter- so, so good! You get two in a pack and it’s impossible not to want to eat them both.
Nestle Oh Henry!
Oh Henry! are a popular chocolate bar from Nestle and feature two mini bars that contain peanuts, caramel and fudge, all wrapped in milk chocolate. Very moreish!
Starburst Sweet Heat
New from Starbusrt are these Sweet Heat fruit chews which are fruity flavours that have a spicy kick to them; Fiery Watermelon, Flamin’ Orange, Strawberry Mango and Pipin’ Pineapple. Depsite my love of spicy things, I’m not sure that this combination of flavours works as I wasn’t too keen on these.
Nestle 100 Grande
100 Grande is made by Nestle and is described as ‘chewy caramel with milk chocolate and crispy crunchies’ which sums up this chocolate bar perfectly. Like the Oh Henry! above, it also comes in two pieces and feels rather substantial to eat.
Sweet Tarts Chewy Sours
Marrying together the best of Sweet Tarts in a chewy sour tangy candy, these are really good and are perfect for sour fans like me.
DeMets Bite Size Turtle
This cute little chocolate shaped turtle is nutty, sweet and wrapped in chocolate – what’s not to love?!
Charleston Chew
Another individually wrapped mini treat was this Vanilla flavoured Charleston Chew – a chewy vanilla nougat coated in milk chocolate.
Junior Mints
Mini bite-sized pieces of sweet peppermint fondant covered in a semi-sweet chocolate – a nice little snack size for your handbag or desk drawer.
Nerds Lemonade Wild Cherry
I love Nerds! I’d be happy to have Nerds in every single Taffy Mail box and these Lemonade Wild Cherry ones are one of my favourite flavours!
