October is my favourite time of the year, mainly because of Halloween. I have been obsessed with it since I was a kid, so when I received the October My Geek Box – Afterlife I was very happy!
This geeky subscription box is based in the UK and has a different theme each month. The box is usually shipped around the 15th and 20th and arrives between the 20th – 30th of that month. I’m not sure when the box was shipped, but it arrived within that time frame. As you can see from the images, my box was damaged during shipping. I know for a fact that mine was not a ‘one-off’ either as my boyfriend’s geek box was also damaged. The good news is that nothing was damaged inside, so the packaging is sturdy and it’s easy to open.
Zombie Wall Sign
The metal wall sign says ‘Warning: This area has not been checked for Zombies’. It’s a sturdy sign, complete with 4 holes so you can easily hang it up with screws or even thread string through and hang it up. It’s a great design, and as a lover of horror and everything zombie themed, I was ecstatic about this!
Zombie Rescue Team Window Sticker
I have been looking for a zombie window sticker for the past year and I have not been able to find the right one as they’re usually bumper stickers. But this window sticker is amazing! It says ‘Zombie Outbreak Response Team’ and features 2 shotguns, a target and the hazard symbol. It’s ideal for all zombie fans, and you can stick it on your bedroom window or your car.
Bloody Tea Towel
This is one of my favourites in the whole box! The material isn’t that great, it feels like the standard type of dish towel you’d buy from Primark. But, who cares about the texture when the design has 2 bloody hands and is covered in blood stains?! It’s perfect for Halloween and freaking out any guests you have over. Now all I need to get is that bloody footprint shower mat and I’m sorted.
Boo! T-shirt
The Boo! T-shirt is made from 100% cotton, it feels nice against you skin and is very comfortable to wear. If you don’t like going OTT on Halloween, then this top is great for you. I even wore it to work on Friday 30th as it was Halloween themed and I had many compliments. It’s simple but effective – perfect for Hallows Eve!
Twisted Dark Volume One by Neil Gibson
I haven’t had a chance to read this yet, but with 200 pages about loss, hate, regret and death it’s surely going to be an epic read for Halloween. It’s also worth $9.99 and has really good reviews; the illustrations are amazing and there’s even a page about how Neil Gibson is different to Mel Gibson.
Dracula – A Petrifying Puzzle!
This little puzzle is fun for the whole family as you have to make Dracula into a square. At first you think it’ll be easy, but as soon as you start twisting those squares it gets difficult. The first problem I found was that I’d try to twist one side, and the other part I’d managed to do started to lose its shape. I’ll be honest with you, I did give up. I scrunched it together and left it on my bed. But there is help! Inside the box is a leaflet which explains how you can turn Dracula into a square, it also lets you know what other creatures are in the collection for future fun!
Overall, the box is definitely worth your money. You get a variety of themed products so that there’s something for everyone. I loved the Afterlife theme purely for the zombie themed products, ghost t-shirt and bloody tea towel and I will be using all of them! I honestly cannot wait for next month’s theme as it’s Movies and Television, I hope it’s better than this one as I didn’t think the Dracula puzzle or the book were great additions for the Afterlife theme.
