The Vegan Kind is a monthly lifestyle subscription box which caters for vegans, and anyone who is interested in becoming a vegan or simply wants to see what new vegan products are out there. Everything in the box is 100% cruelty-free and the team behind The Vegan Kind are incredibly passionate about this, which saves you a lot of time checking the ingredients labels as they’ve done all the hard work for you!
Inside the box, you’ll receive a surprise selection of 5-8 products, from a wide variety including food, drink, beauty, toiletries, household items etc. April’s The Vegan Kind box arrived a couple of days ago, so let’s check out the contents:-
Candy Kittens Sour Watermelon Gourmet Sweets (138g, RRP £2.99)
Candy Kittens have re-launched their range and removed the beef gelatine from some of their sweets, including these delicious Sour Watermelon ones! These have a lovely tart tang to them and are very fruity, whilst still feeling like a proper chewy sweet – you wouldn’t realise that they were vegan unless I told you so before you tried them. Other flavours that are now vegan include Wild Strawberry and Blueberry Bliss, so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for these in the supermarket.
Zero Waste Club Reusable Bamboo Straw (RRP £2)
One of the best things to happen in the UK recently has been the discussions on litter and plastic pollution, with many retailers now recycling single-use products or encouraging customers to bring their own cups. One area that definitely needs some improvement are plastic straws, so The Vegan Kind have teamed up with the Zero Waste Club to give every one of their subscribers a nifty reusable bamboo straw to take to their favourite restaurants. It’s 100% biodegradable, sustainable and it’s also dishwasher safe – how cool is that?!
Ape Snacks Thai Chilli Coconut Puffs (RRP £0.80)
These yummy Thai Chilli Coconut Puffs are a brand new product from Ape Snacks and are made from a blend of Coconut and Rice for a more nutritious snack alternative to crisps. They’re baked, not fried, and don’t contain any added sugar which means that they’re only 114 calories per bag. I really like these, especially with a bowl of soup or a sandwich.
Blackfriars Bakery Ginger Choc Chip Flapjack (RRP £0.75)
This is a proper chunky and substantial flapjack from the Blackfriars Bakery and it comes in a delicious Ginger and Choc Chip flavour. The company have been specialising in baked goods since the 1980s and have now launched a new vegan range due to growing consumer demand, so I’m looking forward to seeing what else they have to offer.
Almighty Foods Cashew Caramello Mini Jar (RRP £2)
This cute little jar from Almighty Foods contains one of the most addictive sweet spreads that I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying. Named Cashew Caramello, it’s a moreish blend of all natural organic ingredients featuring Cashew Nuts, Coconut, Coconut Nectar, Tigernuts and Vanilla. Very versatile to use, you can spread this onto toast, drizzle over porridge, fruit, granola, use as an ice cream topping or just eat it straight from the jar with a spoon!
Snact Apple and Cinnamon Kick Banana Bar (35g, RRP £1.39)
Made with surplus fruits that would otherwise have gone to waste in landfill, Snact creates wholesome bars of goodness with them instead, to give you a natural energy boost to beat that afternoon slump. This bar has Bananas, Apples, Gluten-Free Oats, Pumpkin Seeds and a pinch of Cinnamon, for a filling snack treat when you need it the most.
Indie Bay Sunflower Superseed Pretzel Bites (26g, RRP £1.20)
Lastly, there’s a bag of Sunflower Pretzel Bites from Indie Bay and these are really crunchy and addictive. They’re like round little bits of pretzel which have been rolled into superseeds for an extra punch of protein and fibre. I really like these as they have a nutty flavour and are an ideal healthy snack to pack into your lunchbox.
