I love the start of a new year as it brings with it new prospects and also, new products to try! I love beauty boxes as they allow me to find new products and brands that I might not have otherwise. The theme for the January 2019 box is perfect for this time of the year and that’s ‘clean beauty’. The box contains six items which range from haircare, skincare and makeup.
Swell Ultimate Protect and Renew Serum
Let’s start with the two haircare items in the box, the first is a serum from a brand I haven’t ever tried before, Swell. The serum is silicone free and claims to smooth, hydrate and control frizz as well as reducing the appearance of split ends. It’s a great trial and travel size! I’ve only tried it once so far and I like it but you do have to be careful about only using the tiniest amount.
Popbands Active Hair Ties
I usually have my hair tied up as it keeps my hair out of the way but it can give me a headache very easily. However, since discovering and buying Popbands a few years ago, I haven’t had the problem of headaches due to hair ties or the annoying dent in my hair. Popbands are so gentle on the hair and scalp, they are so comfortable and I cannot recommend them enough – I’m so happy that there are more within the January box.
BellaPierre Banana Setting Powder
The only makeup item in the box is a colour correcting setting powder from a brand that appears very frequently within subscription boxes. I’m personally not a huge fan of loose powders as they are just messy and time consuming, in my opinion. I haven’t tried this powder yet and I don’t know what it will look like on my ghostly pale skin but fingers crossed.
First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturiser
My favourite item, along with the Popbands, is this gorgeous priming moisturiser from First Aid Beauty. I received the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream in the amazing LookFantastic advent calendar and I adored it so I’m very happy to try another item from the brand. I’ve tried this product a couple of times and it works so well on my very dry skin.
Vitamasques Gold Dust Sheet Mask – Plumping
The final two items are skincare related, the first is a sheet mask in the most gorgeous packaging. I’m definitely a sucker for packaging…I haven’t tried many sheet masks, despite the huge trend of sheet masks last year so I need to try this one. There are a few options that you could have received but I have the marine gold dust mask.
Dr Paw Paw Multipurpose Balm
Last but not least is a multiuse balm that I’ve tried previously and liked. I love multiuse products as they’re great for travelling or just keeping in your bag. I personally like this one for my dry cuticles and as a thick lip balm. Overall, a great box to start the year!
