Perfume is a very personal thing, and it can be both difficult and expensive figuring out what kind you like. If you enjoy discovering and wearing scent, the Secret Scent Box is the terrific way to try out a huge range of different perfumes. Every month you get three 5ml bottles though the letterbox, plus guidance notes.
In this month’s selection we have well-known brands Jimmy Choo, DKNY, and a brand new scent from Faîr Parfum.
The packaging is extremely convenient, a small flat box that fits perfectly though the letterbox so you don’t have to worry about not being in when it arrives.
Inside the box are three little spray vials, each labelled. The size is perfect for keeping in your bag, in case you need a top up through the day.
Each perfume has its own description card, which tells you a little about it, plus notes on the scents.
Jimmy Choo – Blossom
Despite it’s name, I find the strongest notes are fruity. There is a definite underlying floral scent though, rather like cherry blossom. It’s a lovely light fragrance for spring daytimes. As I’m not the greatest fan of overly floral scents but I love the more fruity notes so I think this strikes a lovely balance.
DKNY – Pure Verbena
This is a definite contrast to the floral of the Jimmy Choo. It’s fresh and springlike, but definitely more of a ‘green’ smell than floral. The herbal notes are reminiscent of freshly cut grass, and while there is a touch of floral, the greenness stops them being overly sweet. The seaweed gives a slight feeling of sea breezes, which is lovely and cooling on a warm day. While I wouldn’t put this quite as a unisex scent, it’s definitely not a ‘girly’ scent.
Faîr Parfum – Bisou
This is a really impressive scent. It’s new, only released last year, and is completely different from the other two. Rather than florals, it has wonderful earthy notes with the spices and cedar. Despite this it is still very much a feminine scent. I also think it would work well at pretty much any time of year, night and day. Having looked up the company, I read they handcraft their perfumes using traditional methods using only natural ingredients and essential oils. The concentration (25%) is the highest allowed which makes this an incredibly long-lasting perfume. I’m not sure I’ve every smelled anything quite like it, and I am an instant fan!
