I Love Gin is a monthly subscription for people who love trying out small-batch, artisan gins. It’s a fun way to discover something new and exciting as it’s unlikely that you’ll see these gins in the mainstream shops and each box contains enough to make four G&Ts in the comfort of your own home. What’s not to like?!
November’s I Love Gin box is themed The Cornish Drys, so let’s check out the products:-
Trevethan Cornish Gin (50ml, 43% vol)
Handcrafted in Cornwall at the Trevethan Distillery, this gin is made to an old family recipe dating back to the 1920s. It was re-born in 2015 when Norman Trevethan’s grandson re-opened the family business and began to produce new gin with his friend. The recipe features the usual suspects that are common in gin such as Juniper, Coriander, Cassia and Angelica, however, it’s made more unusual with the additions of Cardamom, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel and Vanilla which add extra depth and flavour. The dry gin is then rounded off with the finest extracts of Cornish Elderflower and Gorse Flower which are handpicked from the hedgerows of Trewonnard Dairy Farm in Treneglos and these bring lovely soft floral notes that perfectly balance out this gin.
Holly’s Gin (50ml, 42%)
Created by I Love Gin’s very own gintern, Holly has made her first-ever gin in her home county of Cornwall and it’s delicious! With a background already infused in the world of gin-making and a passion to create her own, Holly wanted to make her gin in her home county of Cornwall and found the perfect partnership in Trevethan Distillery. Made with nine botanicals, this gin has an earthy and rich aroma that’s matched by a fresh and vibrant flavour with notes of Orange, Gentian Root and Passion Flower.
Navas Premium Cornish Mixers – Light Tonic Water and Premium Tonic Water (200ml each)
You can’t have a Cornish gin box without some Cornish tonics and these two from Navas feature packaging which is inspired by the dark green and red serpentine rocks found at Kynance Cove and the Lizard Peninsula. Navas blends together Pink Grapefruit, Lemon, Bitter Orange, Bergamot and Lime Leaf Oils to create a light and crisp tonic flavour with woody notes of Cinchona Bark that softens the traditional bitterness of Quinine.
Here you can try their classic Premium Tonic Water and their Light version which is made with fructose instead of cane sugar for a natural light sweetness.
