Christmas is coming! And while it’s not a huge holiday in Japan, it’s definitely out there. So this month TokyoTreat is giving us some lovely Christmassy goodies, Japanese-style!

Calbee Luxury Chocolate Potato Chips & Caramel Corn White Milk
Don’t be alarmed, chocolate crisps are amazing! Salty crunchy crisps and lovely dark chocolate are the most delicious combination. They don’t appear often in TokyoTreat, but I’m always very happy when they do, they’re a wonderful treat.
Caramel corn is slightly different in Japan – it’s a crunchy corn snack and comes in lots of different flavours. This one is a special version for Christmas, and it’s infused with a milk syrup for an extra creamy flavour.
Cola Foam, Christmas New Mochi Taro, & Primium Umaibo Mozzarella & Camembert Flavour
The foamy candy is ramune candy, which is flavoured like the Japanese ramune soda. This version is cola flavoured, and it’s just as fizzy and as fizzy drink.
Mochi taro are delicious little salty rice crackers, perfect as a small savory snack.
Another savory option, this time the cheese course! Umaibo means ‘delicious stick’, and it’s a crunchy puffed corn tube. It comes in many different flavours, and this one is there extra luxury version which tastes exactly like the actual cheese!
Christmas Fugashi, Sankaku Vegetable Crackers, & Christms Umaibo Chocolate
Fugashi is a traditional Japanese snack very popular with children. It’s a light crispy puffed stick flavoured with sweet brown sugar with a lovely caramel flavour. The packaging is a special edition for Christmas.
The little vegetable crackers contain actual vegetables and are salty delicious, especially with a glass of wine!
The umaibo is another Christmas special edition, this time coated in lovely chocolate.
Cocoa Bolo, Pandaro Cookie Melon, & Choco Waffle Kun
These little cocoa bites are really quite intensely chocolaty. Not only can you eat them as you are, you can add milk and eat them like chocolate cereal.
Melon pan in a bread shaped like a melon, and this sweet butter cookie is flavoured like melon! It’s also in the shape of an adorable panda for extra cuteness.
Waffles are a pretty popular dessert in Japan, and you can get a little waffle taste with the chocolate waffle cookie.
Pocky Winter Caramel & Calpis Strawberries & Cream
Pocky are a incredibly popular Japanese cookie stick snack. The cookie pretzel stick is coated with chocolate, and they come in all kinds of amazing varieties. This version is salted caramel flavour, and is perfect for winter.
Calpis is a a unique milk-based Japanese soda. It’s still rather than carbonated, and has an amazing slightly acidic taste, rather like yogurt. This one is a special version flavoured with strawberries and cream, and is really incredibly unusual and delicious.
KitKat Milk Tea
Japan makes the best KitKats ever – they come in a million flavours, each more original than the last. This version is based on the popular Japanese beverage milk tea, with a milk tea-flavoured coating and creamy wafer filling.
