The theme for the latest Boxcitement stationery box is Head in the Clouds. Think dreamy white pillowy clouds with a dash of neon sunshine in stationery form and you’re there, perfect if you’re dreaming of the end of winter as we hurtle headlong into spring.
The thing I like the most about this subscription box is the mix of things you get in it. While it’s predominantly stationery-focused, there are also a few surprise items and it’s often these which make me smile the most.
Included in this month’s box was a set of dreamy notelets with a flash of orange neon, two greetings cards, an acrylic cloud brooch, a pretty sign on a dazzling fluoro yellow ribbon, a mirror, a white pom-pom garland and a white tissue paper ball to make your own cloud.
My favourite thing in this month’s box is the I’m Dreaming acrylic sign on the bright yellow ribbon. This is such a cute little sign and I think it would look great above your desk, hanging from a shelf or on a door handle.
I’m in the middle of making a playroom for my baby at the moment with a beach, seaside theme, and I think this would look great hanging from a shelf.
I also love the smiling cloud brooch. I’m a big fan of slightly quirky jewellery and love acrylic and bold statement pieces (which probably explains my Tatty Devine collection). This cloud brooch is really wearable. It’s subtle enough if you don’t like anything too wacky but that bit kitsch and cute if you like to wear conversational pieces. I’ve put mine on my raincoat, perfect I thought seeing as it’s a cloud!
Next up is the set of neon ‘Just a thought ‘notelets. I’m a big fan of this as the crisp white pad and the dash of bright neon orange makes for a really modern and fresh combination which works really well together. The notepad is wrapped in a cellophane wrapper to keep it in pristine condition, which is great if you decide to gift it to someone else.
Sticking on the stationery front, and as you can come to expect from Boxcitement if you’re a regular subscriber is the two greetings cards. These are both predominantly white following this month’s Head in the Clouds theme and are both suitable for lots of different occasions.
My favourite is the ‘Happy thoughts’ card which features an embossed cloud design. The ‘Shh… it’s oh so quiet’ is simple and understated on the front, while the inside is very bright and features the exclamation “Woah!” in colourful letters. Both come wrapped in their own cellophane wrapper with a brown envelope each.
The other non-stationery gift in the box is a pocket mirror emblazoned with this month’s theme. It pictures a girl holding a red bag with a cloud for her head! I understand how this encapsulates the whole Head in the Clouds thing, but I’ve got to say I found it a bit freaky so I don’t know if I will be using this yet.
The final surprise in the box was a white pom pom decoration to hang from the ceiling. I didn’t have the heart to puff it out yet as I’m going to put it in my son’s playroom and I don’t want to damage it!
All in all I thought this month’s theme was a really good one and well-thought out. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store next month!
