Cheeseposties – April 2018

Cheeseposties are a must-have subscription box for anyone who is a cheese fan and loves experimenting with different flavours. It sounds just like you would imagine it to be; all the ingredients to make an amazing gourmet cheese toastie are delivered fresh, straight to your door (or place of work, wherever you fancy having it) for you to assemble and demolish at your leisure. It doesn’t really get any better than that does it?!

Although every flavour combination that is sent is a ‘surprise’ from the company’s online cheeseboard, you do have some control over your subscription in that you can tell them about any cheeses or ingredients that you don’t like, and select from ‘Sweet’, ‘Savoury’, or a ‘Bit of Both’ options. Cheeseposties also cater for vegetarians and those with nut allergies – just let them know when you sign up. These yummy boxes of joy can be delivered weekly, fortnightly or monthly to suit a range of budgets, and the unique and quirky flavours are really delicious!

Your Cheesepostie will arrive via 1st Class Royal Mail to ensure maximum freshness and the letterbox friendly box means that you don’t need to be at home to sign for it. The ingredients are packaged in separate compartments as you can see above, with super strong seals to stop any accidents on route. In my experience, they have always arrived in perfect condition.

This month, I received the Blueberry Smoothie flavour, which consists of:-

  • Two slices of White Bread
  • Two mini packs of Kerrygold Butter
  • Mascarpone Cheese
  • Blueberry Jam
  • Fresh Mint Leaves

Interesting!

The quality of the ingredients is always fantastic with Cheeseposties, and you get a generous amount of fillings, especially with the cheeses and condiments. To make this one, I decided to spread the Mascarpone cheese on each side and layered all of the Blueberry Jam on one half, with the Mint on the other.

Gently folding it together, I popped it into the frying pan and toasted it that way, allowing a few minutes on each side to gently brown the bread. If you prefer, you can make this in the enclosed toasting bag and use your toaster instead.

The result; a messy, squidgy but still kind of pretty(?!) cheese toastie! The creamy Mascarpone blended well with the chunky Blueberry Jam which had just the right amount of fruity sweetness to it, with the Mint adding a refreshing and cooling flavour to it. Strangely enough, it did remind me of a Blueberry Smoothie! The bread was top quality as always and managed to hold everything together – a tasty and different cheese toastie to enjoy!

Our score: 9.4/ 10

It's a bizarre flavour combination, but one that worked very well - Cheeseposties never fail to surprise and tickle my tastebuds!
