Having been so impressed with last month’s box from The Cocktail Man, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of July’s edition and it did not disappoint! For those of you who haven’t heard of The Cocktail Man before, it’s a subscription box which sends you the main ingredients to make a different cocktail every month.
I love the concept because it’s a surprise each time and allows you to try out some new spirits that you may not have heard of before, or on the flip side, helps you to recreate some of your favourite drinks in the comfort of your own home. I also love the presentation of the box which looks very classy and sophisticated and really helps to set the tone of what you’re about to receive.
This month’s The Cocktail Man box is called Rainbow Gin Fizz which I’m incredibly excited to try because gin is my absolute favourite tipple!
The contents of the box are as follows and there’s enough to make a minimum of four cocktails:-
- 3 x Plymouth Gin
- 1 x Bramley & Gage Raspberry Liqueur
- 1 x The Cocktail Man’s Passion Fruit Syrup
- LED Ice Cube
- 4 x Paper Straws
All you need to add of your own is some ice, freshly squeezed lemon juice and soda water, plus optional egg white if desired. I always seem to have lemons and soda water in my fridge, but had run out of eggs when the box arrived so I skipped that part, though I don’t think it mattered too much!
To make the Rainbow Gin Fizz, all you need to do is pour 35ml Plymouth Gin, 10ml Raspberry Liqueur, 10ml Passion Fruit Syrup and 10ml Lemon Juice into a cocktail shaker, shake for 10 seconds and then add some ice cubes. Shake again for another 10 seconds until the mixture becomes a little frothy and then pour into a Collins glass.
Pop in the LED ice cube, top off the drink with some soda water and add a paper straw to finish.
The ‘rainbow’ part of this cocktail comes from the flashing LED ice cube which is a fun extra in the box and really livens up the drink as it changes colour every couple of seconds – how fun! The Rainbow Gin Fizz was utterly delicious and I’ll certainly be purchasing a full-size bottle of the Plymouth Gin next month, so thanks for the introduction The Cocktail Man!
