Gin Of The Month Whitby Gin – Demeter Edition (70cl/42% ABV)
Exclusive to Craft Gin Club, this extra special Demeter Edition of Whitby Gin is the perfect tipple to enjoy this spooky season and features a striking gothic image emblazoned on the bottle with the famous Whitby Abbey in the background. Distilled in the English town that inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Whitby Gin features a wide range of botanicals such as Juniper, Plum, Heather Tip, Pepper Dulse, Coriander, Angelica Root, Liquorice Root, Cassia Bark, Orris Root, Lemon, Orange, Rosehip, Hibiscus, Cardamom, Elderflower, Pink Pepper and Vanilla.
It has a rich and heady Juniper-forward flavour with a slight bite, and it’s fragrant on the nose. There are some deliciously sweet notes of Plum and Vanilla coming through with a spicy kick of Pepper Dulse and some lovely coastal flavours that end in a spiced finish. The perfect English gin for Autumn and Winter.
Mixers: Merchant’s Heart Pink Peppercorn and Floral Aromatics, and Angostura Orange Bitters
Merchant’s Heart leads the way this month with two of their premium mixers, both of which perfectly complement the floral and spicy notes in the Whitby Gin – here you can enjoy a G&T with their Pink Peppercorn and Floral Aromatics Tonic Waters. There’s also a tiny bottle of Angostura Orange Bitters to add to the Cocktail Of The Month recipe.
Drinks & Mixers: Gusto Organic Sicilian Blood Orange and Gunna Muscovite Lemondate & Mint
Next up, I found two more soft drinks which can either be drunk on their own or used as mixers. The Gusto Organic Sicilian Blood Orange is a refreshing ethical and fairtrade juice and the Gunna Muscovite Lemondate & Mint can be used to whip up the Cocktail Of The Month (recipe is found in the GINNED! magazine).
Syrups & Garnishes: Full Moon Fizz Cocktail Syrup and Orange Slices and Black Peppercorn
To complete the Cocktail Of The Month recipe, Craft Gin Club have created their very own Full Moon Fizz Cocktail Syrup to add some sweetness to the drink, and there’s also a packet of dried Orange Slices and Black Peppercorn garnish to add the finishing flavours to the Perfect G&T this month.
