My Dappa Box is a men’s grooming and skincare subscription box. It costs £19 per month, and will contain 4 – 5 fashion and grooming items every month.
My husband Big C has been on hand to assess the contents of this month’s box, so you’ll be getting his opinions as well as mine.
The box itself is quite compact, but nicely designed and looks inviting.
This is what you see opening it up. On the other side of the card on top is the menu.
The menu give you information about each product, as well as RRPs, which I check. There are also flyers for a couple of the products in the box.
This is a clever product, Solid Cologne in Felix scent. It comes in a little tin with a sliding lid, and you scrape a little bit of the solid balm and apply it to your pulse points. It smells very nice indeed, and is definitely something I could use myself! It would also be very useful for travelling, as there’s no liquid problem for flying, and the tin itself is more or less unbreakable. It’s also nice and compact. As an extra bonus it moisturizes your skin.
I’ve seen the Charcoal Detox Bar by Friendly Soap before, and it’s a wonderful product. Big C loves it, and as he used up the last one he’s thrilled to have another!
This is Dear Barber Shaping Cream. It’s designed to give a medium hold and shape without stiffness or stickiness. Right now Big C’s hair is very short for summer, so it doesn’t have much effect. However it smells lovely and on a longer style it would probably work very well.
Pure Skincare London Black Mask & Brush is another familiar product. It’s one of these popular charcoal peel-off masks that clean out your pores and refresh your skin. It comes with a handy brush for applying to your face. From previous experience it’s a pretty nice mask.
Finally, a fashion accessory, a Tumble & Hide Tan Leather Card Holder.
It’s got card slots on one side and an ID card window on the other. Not only is it a lovely and useful accessory, it also has RFID protection, to stop people from scanning your electronics and stealing your personal information.
This is a useful set of items. I like the skincare plus an accessory, and we’re pleased to have an item we particularly like! The shaping cream is something that can be easily passed on, and if Big C hadn’t had a short summer haircut recently he’d be using it himself.
I do have one quibble: the RRPs on the menu are not at all accurate. The Solid Cologne actually costs £14.99, not £16, the mask is £3.99 not £7, the soap is £2.62 not £8, the Shaping Cream in this travel tin is £3, not £5, and the card holder £8.50 not £18. Of course this does not take shipping costs into account (where applicable) but I think accuracy is important here.
This box is still very good value, you’re getting far more than the price paid, and the selection of items is well thought out. Big C enjoyed it very much, the wallet is currently being filled, and the soap has gone straight in the bathroom!
