This was our third First Wonder Box to arrive and for the first time we really got fully stuck in. The topic of this one was ‘birds’. This is a perfect box whether you have boys or girls and I’d say it was perfect for our 6 year old. They are aimed at children aged 4 to 8 and cost £8.99 every fortnight.
What’s in the box?
- Bird themed activity book
- Flamingo finger friend
- A pack of feathers and glue stick
- Parrot pencil
- collectable cards
- Stickers.
The highlights
One of the things I have loved with all the boxes we’ve had so far is that you can use the packaging as part of the activities. This box was probably one of the best as it featured a make your own feathery parrot!
The feathers came with a glue stick in a sealed bag which was great. They were really decent quality feathers. I plan to make use of them in other craft projects we have planned.
As a frequent Flying Tiger visitor (seriously, I LOVE that shop) I was delighted to see the flamingo finger friend. I should probably let my son have it back…but I really do love these silly things! Sadly, I can often be found sticking giraffe ones on my fingers in Flying Tiger!
The pencil in this box was also really nice. We used it to fill in the activity book and we will definitely get lots of use out of it! Having an eraser too was a great addition and one I can see us getting lots of use out of.
The activity book in this box was great and included lots of facts and games, as well as some silly jokes which my son loved. We completed the book and used up all the stickers which we haven’t always done in the past.
Not so fussed
Each box comes with two cards. However, there’s no specific storage for them and so they don’t really ever get used.
As they change with each themed box there’s not really any motivation to save them so they just feel a bit wasteful. If First Wonder Box could include some sort of card holder in the first box you receive it might be better?
