I am a fan of the more unusual subscription boxes out there and the My Geek Box subscription service definitely fits the bill. I tried one of their boxes back in 2015 and I loved it so I’m excited to check out their boxes again!
My Geek Box is a monthly subscription box filled with all kinds of hand-picked movie, comic, video game, tv show or generally geeky/retro fandom items of which you’ll received between 4 to 7 each month including a limited edition t-shirt in every box. Each box contains items from a range of genres and fandoms so you’ll always find something you love in each box! The price for this box starts from £16.49 but there are other boxes available too including the My Geek Box Lite (from £8.49 per month) and the My Geek Box Kids (rom £18.49 per month).
The box arrived towards the end of the month and comes well packaged. It’s so exciting to receive a mystery box of geeky goodies – there’s more mystery with this box compared to other lifestyle or beauty boxes as there’s a wider range of products that you could receive whereas other boxes are more predictable/limited in what they can offer.
The June box contains five items which range from homeware, figurines, a print, the limited edition t-shirt and a mug from various genres/fandoms including DC Comics Harley Quinn, Back To The Future, The Mummy, Uncharted and Sherlock, the latter is definitely my favourite because…SHERLOCK.
Let’s start with the print! Uncharted is a game series I haven’t tried yet but now I definitely want to as I am in a gaming rut as nothing seems to compare to the Assassins Creed series so a new series to go through would be amazing! I love the print style, design and the quality is fantastic too.
Next up, the limited edition t-shirt in the box; I have a women’s M which is a great fit for me (I’m a UK size 10). I assume it’s based on the newly released Mummy film which I can’t want to watch as I’m a massive fan of the original two movies – let me know if I’m wrong about the film tie in design for this t-shirt!
On the card included in the box explaining the items, it states that for the first time ever there were 100 t-shirts in the June box that were a limited edition version of this t-shirt (a shiny rare version). I didn’t receive one but it sounds great – an extra extra limited edition t-shirt!
Now onto the cutest item in the June box, the DC Comics Harley Quinn Bath Duck which is really cute…I mean mischievous. It’s based on the original Harley Quinn rather than the new revamped Harley Quinn which is great as I’m not a massive fan of the Suicide Squad Harley Quinn. I loved the original Batman animated series from the 90’s so this is a great item to be included in the box, for me anyway!
Now onto the only other item, as well as the Uncharted print, of which I’m not familiar with, the Back To The Future Minimates Box Set which contains four of the characters from the famous film of the 80’s, Back To The Future. The little movable figurines come with interchangeable parts and remind me of the little figures I had back in the 90’s. I’m not familiar with the film at all but now I definitely need to watch it.
Last but not least for the amazing June My Geek Box is the Sherlock Heat Reveal Mug which is definitely my favourite item from the box as it’s not only one of my favourite TV shows but also because as with a few items in this box, it reminds me of the 90’s as heat changing mugs were everywhere during my childhood!
The mug comes in an official Sherlock/BBC box so it would make a great gift! The mug is black and when a hot drink is poured into the mug, it changes to reveal an ‘I love Sherlock’ logo in the middle which I love!
