Glossybox – April 2017

It’s that time of the month again when everyone’s favourite iconic pink beauty box arrives. Of course, I’m talking about Glossybox which is one of the most popular beauty boxes on the market. They work with a large number of brands, some well known, others more niche, so it’s always a surprise as to what you’ll find in their boxes each month, and there’s often a good mix of makeup and haircare/skincare involved.

April’s Glossybox doesn’t have a defined theme as such, but the products have been specially chosen this month for busy women who want their beauty products to make their life that little bit easier, which is something that I can certainly get on board with and I imagine many women can relate to this. Afterall, life’s too short to be preening in front of the mirror – we’ve got important stuff to do!

So here’s everything that I found inside this month’s Glossybox:-Elgon Deliwash Cleansing Conditioner (100ml travel size, full size retails for £14.50)

Cleansing conditioners seem to be all the rage, and ‘co-washing’ is definitely a big trend at the moment in the world of haircare. If you haven’t tried it yet, co-washing basically just involves using one product to wash your hair with, but you do need to find the right one that combines both the cleansing properties of a regular shampoo and the hydrating/moisturising qualities of a conditioner. This one from Elgon gets the mix just right. I’ve tried it a few times since the box arrived earlier this month and it’s brilliant! My hair is left feeling soft and clean, and using just this one product saves me a lot of time in the morning when I’m usually bleary-eyed and in a rush! It’s also free from sulphates (always a good thing as my sensitive scalp finds most sulphates too drying), and is suitable for all hair types.ModelCo Contour Stick (sample/travel size, full size retails for £17)

Speaking of trends, another one that’s huge in the makeup world is contouring, and this little contour stick from ModelCo is the perfect size to throw into your makeup bag. The chunky crayon shaped applicator allows you to quickly define cheekbones, jaw lines and the nose, and the soft, slightly waxy formula makes blending super easy so that you can avoid any harsh telltale lines. Whilst this shade suits my light olive complexion, I think it would be slightly too dark for those with a paler skin, so it’s a shame that it’s only available in one shade.Sport FX Definition Duo Eyeliner Pencil (full size, RRP £9.99)

This cool doubled ended eyeliner features both black and brown shades, which lets you create a quick and easy defined eye in no time at all. I love the fact that this eyeliner pencil is retractable as it saves you even more time as there’s no sharpening involved (hooray!) and the tips are super fine so that you can draw a nice skinny line along the lid. I haven’t heard of this brand Sport FX before, but their makeup appears to be aimed at sporty/gym people who want waterproof, smudge proof formulas, and I’m always looking to try new eyeliners in this category (who wants an eyeliner that runs anyway? – Not me!).Merci Handy Love and Hand Cleansing Gel (full size, RRP £2.90)

You can never have enough antibacterial hand gel around, especially if you’re on the go a lot and use public transport. I really like this handbag friendly one from Merci Handy – it smells great and doesn’t dry out my hands afterwards, plus you only need to use a tiny amount each time to keep your hands fully protected. And it’s pink – genius!Rodial Glamolash Mascara XXL (sample/travel size, full size retails for £24)

The fifth and final product in this month’s Glossybox is a travel sized sample of Rodial’s Glamolash Mascara XXL. Rodial are a brand that I don’t really hear many people talking about, but I used to use an eyeliner from them in the past which was pretty good, and I have to say that this mascara is great! I’ve been using it for the last week and a half, and I love the results that it gives me. With just two swipes of its big brush, I get super volumised lashes without the clumps in seconds – perfect!

Our score: 8.0/ 10

This month's Glossybox is a real treat for makeup fans as three of the five products are makeup, but it would have been nice to have at least one skincare item just to mix things up a bit. Favourites for me this time around are the Elgon Deliwash Cleansing Conditioner and the fab Rodial Glamolash Mascara!
