The number of eco-friendly subscription boxes has definitely risen over the past few years, and GreenEcoBox is one of the latest to launch onto the market. They offer two different types of monthly subscription box; a Bee Happy Box which is a mix of artisan food, lifestyle and toiletries/cosmetics (you can read our review of their February box here for more info), and a Beauty In The Box, which is the one focused purely on beauty products.
GreenEcoBox prides themselves on working with companies that are ethical and environmentally friendly, so it’s a fantastic way to discover something new and as they’re based in Europe, it’s an especially lovely treat for those who are in the UK! GreenEcoBox also supports many green initiatives which you can find out more about on their website, and they donate £2.50 from every Beauty In The Box sold to the WWF to help protect wildlife around the world, as well as planting a tree in Haiti in your name via OneTreePlanted to reduce deforestation.
This month is the first ever Beauty In The Box which arrived in a fully recyclable box from Europe – shall we see what’s inside?
The Handmade Soap Company Lemongrass & Cedarwood Shower Gel (300ml)
Made in Ireland by The Handmade Soap Company, this huge bottle of Shower Gel is delicately fragranced with Lemongrass and Cedarwood essential oils which combine to make the most beautiful uplifting scent – this is definitely one to use first thing in the morning to put you in a good mood for the day! The pump is very handy as it dispenses just the right amount, and the shower gel has a lovely gentle cleansing formula which makes my skin feel soft and clean afterwards.
Coiffe Decoifee Shampoo Bar
For those who are looking to reduce their plastic waste, switching to a solid shampoo bar can be a great way to cut down on the number of plastic bottles in your bathroom. This shampoo bar from the French artisans Coiffe Decoifee is handcrafted in Brittany and is cruelty-free, suitable for vegans, free from palm oil and preservatives. It’s made with mostly organic ingredients and is ideal for those who have oily or normal hair. The shampoo is made by cold saponification, which preserves the properties of the vegetable oils, as this bar contains Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Sunflower Oil, Shea Butter, Vegetable Glycerine, Rhassoul Clay and Clary Sage essential oil. The bar can be used for about 50 washes which is incredible!
Mianra Nag Champa Soap
The last beauty product in the box is a soap from the Irish artisans, Mianra. It has a beautiful marbled effect and has a really strong and heady fragrance that’s similar to incense.(Nag Champa originates from the Hindu and Buddhist monasteries of India and Nepal). This handmade soap contains key ingredients such as Sandalwood, Plumeria, French Lavender, Black Pepper, Bamboo Charcoal and Goat’s milk, which gives it a delicate and moisturising lather. Perfect to use in the shower or as a hand soap by your sink.
To finish off the box, I found a packet of little extras; a Raspberry Himbeer Framboise Organic Muffin, an organic Madeleine and miniature chocolates from the French fairtrade brand, Valrhona. Yum!
