Gus & Bella

We love to spoil our pets, but as they don’t spoil us in return, Gus & Bella will do just that! It’s a subscription box of goodies for cats and their owners, so everybody can have lovely goodies.

The boxes are themed, and this one is called Feed Me Meow – love the pun! The box has lovely presentation, and on top there’s a leaflet that tells you about what’s inside. Many of the treats, especially the toys, are made by small independent companies, so it’s lovely to support smaller businesses.

Tippaws is quite a new cat food company, but quality seems to be their focus. There are two bags of their adult food here, and they’re high in protein, lots of natural ingredients, including prebiotics. and my remarkably fussy cat seems to be quite keen on it! It’s always good to be able to try out different foods, especially as quality varies so much, and I’m really pleased to have discovered this new brand.

Some lovely little toys for kitty here. There are two catnip toys, a strawberry and an utterly adorable mini baguette, handmade by a boutique company in the UK. The paper bag for the baguette might seem like a decorative thing, but my cat just loves playing with (and tearing and chewing) paper, so this was an extra bonus for her, especially because it’s something she’s actually allowed to tear! In the little pink bag is more catnip, to either sprinkle where you like or to refill other toys.

Now for the owners. A bag of gourmet popcorn. I ate this while I was writing this review, and let me tell you, it was utterly delicious!

There’s also an adorable set of kitty-shaped measuring spoons. They snap together and are made from BPA plastic, and let’s face it, everybody needs measuring spoons so why not have some cat-shaped ones?

I wondered why the box was so heavy when it arrived, and this is why – it’s a fantastic Cat’s Life Picnic Blanket. This is perfectly timed as the weather finally starts to inch towards summer, and going on picnics becomes ever more appealing. It’s made from recycled plastic and is completely waterproof, which is incredibly useful when even the driest-looking grass can leave you feeling damp, plus it’s very easy to clean. It’s also a good size, 158cm by 140cm, plenty of room to sit on and lay out the food.

Aside from the fact that the popcorn was one of the most delicious things I've eaten in a while, this month's box is definitely a good one. As my cat can be rather picky, it's incredibly useful to discover new brands, and even more so when it's one she actually eats! The bags are very generous sizes too, so I can be sure it's not just the enjoyment to novelty. The toys are adorable, and it's fun to have something different from the usual birds or mice. As an owner I do fee exceptional spoiled this month too; I love cooking, so the measuring spoons are a terrific useful accessory, and the picnic blanket is going to live in my car ready for summer outings. As always, Gus & Bella is thoughtful and practical, and this is a lovely selection of goodies for both me and my cat!
