Jawbox Belfast Cut Classic Dry Gin (43% vol)
This box includes two mini bottles from the artisan gin distillers Jawbox. Situated in a 300-acre country estate which was built in the 16th century just outside of Belfast, Jawbox gets its name from the slang term for the ‘boxy Belfast sink’, a communal area in many old Irish kitchens where all manners of things were washed and people caught up to have a good gossip and chat. Inspired by the curiosity of such a term, Jawbox was born and is described as a gin for the adventurous, the confident and the inquisitive, people who enjoy sharing every moment!
Their Belfast Cut Classic Dry Gin is the original gin – the first that Jawbox created. It’s distilled very slowly in a traditional copper pot still which allows the botanicals to sit in the spirit for a good period of time to infuse properly for a vibrant flavour. The result is a classic gin that’s big, bold and bursting full of Juniper and balanced by Pine, Citrus, Pepper and Green Angelica. A hardy gin for sure!
Jawbox Pineapple & Ginger Liqueur (20% vol)
By contrast, Jawbox’s second offering to the gin world is a surprisingly fruity gin liqueur which marries together the perfect blend of sweet and spice. This one is very sweet and sugary at first, with Pineapple being the dominant flavour, but this soon gives way to a feisty kick of Ginger for a deliciously warming finish. Perfect in cocktails!
Merchant’s Heart Mixers
These two mixers are both from Merchant’s Heart, the purveyors of premium spirit enhancers which is found in the best bars throughout the UK. On the left, there’s the brand’s Ginger Ale; a fiery, spicy mixer that balances out the sweetness of spirits like the Pineapple & Ginger Liqueur perfectly. And on the right, you get to taste Merchant’s Heart Classic Tonic Water, this one of which features an interesting subtle hint of Pink Peppercorn which pairs extremely well with the classic dry gins.
