Calling all Gin lovers! I Love Gin is a monthly subscription box which sends you two mini bottles of artisan gin with two bottles of premium tonics/mixers. This means that you’ll have enough to make four delicious G&Ts in the comfort of your own home! The contents change each time, so you’ll always be introduced to something new and exciting. I’ve discovered so many Gins that I hadn’t heard of before through the I Love Gin boxes so they’re definitely worth subscribing to if you’re interested in trying different types of Gin.
This month’s box is themed ‘Natural Waters‘ and inside I found the following products:-
- Silent Pool Gin (50ml)
- Slingsby Rhubarb Gin (50ml)
- Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic Water (200ml)
- Fentimans Rose Lemonade (200ml)
Let’s take a closer look at each one:-
Slingsby Rhubarb Gin (40% vol)
Many Rhubarb flavoured Gins are either too artificial tasting or are more of a liqueur so I was very pleased to discover this one from Slingsby which is a proper Rhubarb Gin with a 40% vol. This special rhubarb edition features rhubarb which is sourced from the world famous ‘Rhubarb Triangle’ in Yorkshire, and it uses the brand’s award-winning London Dry Gin as its base. The final product is sweet and tangy with notes of Rhubarb, Raspberry and Pink Grapefruit prominent in the mix. It’s absolutely delicious!
Silent Pool Gin (43% vol)
Silent Pool Gin is a gin that I’ve seen advertised numerous times and I’ve always wanted to try it so finding it in this month’s box was a real treat for me! The creators behind Silent Pool wanted to capture the essence of the beautiful Surrey Hills landscape, and their distillery is even based on the bank of the spring-fed Silent Pool itself. This gin features a unique blend of locally sourced botanicals which are collected from the North Downs – these include Elderflower, Chamomile, Pear and Honey, but there are a total of 24 different botanicals used. This gives the gin a very classic fresh and full-bodied flavour which is also well-balanced and unique thanks to Lavender and those sweet Honey notes. I will definitely be purchasing a full-size bottle soon!
Fentimans Rose Lemonade
Fentimans are one of my favourite drinks brands, and not only do they make superb tonics, but they have a whole range of ready to drink soft drinks available too. Their Rose Lemonade is a firm favourite of mine, though it hadn’t occurred to me to try it as a mixer with gin before. I’m happy to say that it worked incredibly well with both the Silent Pool and Slingsby gins, but especially the Slingsby as it brought out all of those fruity Rhubarb flavours even more.
Fentimas Connoisseurs Tonic Water
Specially created with a delicate infusion of natural botanicals and quinine, this exceptional tonic water has a wonderfully clean and balanced taste which enhances and amplifies the botanicals that are found in premium and artisan gins. A match made in G&T heaven!
