Lick My Dip are one of my favourite foodie subscription boxes, simply because I love spicy stuff, and this box is definitely for anyone who loves chilli infused foods and hot sauces! The products in the Lick My Dip boxes are all sourced from artisan and independent producers, so you’re unlikely to find any of these items in your local supermarket, which gives this subscription service a unique edge. Every month, the LMD team will send you a specially curated selection, and you can choose from two different boxes; a Taste Box which is priced from £12.49 per month, or the larger Ultimate Box which is priced from £24.49 per month.
I’ve found that the Lick My Dip boxes are really consistent in terms of quality and variety of the products that they include every month, so it’s always such a treat to find one of their boxes waiting for me when I get home!
This month’s Ultimate Lick My Dip box contains six products to get your taste buds in a twist:-Baj’s Blazin’ Hot Sauce
This hot sauce is handmade by Baj in Greenwich, London. She’s revived her late Father’s popular hot sauce recipe and decided to share its chilli goodness with the world. Her Blazin’ Hot Sauce is made from a fiery base of Scotch Bonnets and Finger Chillies, and it contains a little secret spice which is inspired by traditional Punjabi flavours. This sauce is kinda like a smoother salsa in texture and has a really fresh and lively chilli flavour. There’s a lot of heat in this, but it doesn’t overpower or dominate a meal. Instead, it works well as both a dipping and a cooking sauce, and I particularly like it slathered over a burger and on the side with some sweet potato fries. Yum!Slow Richie’s Scotch Bonnet & Blenheim Black Hot Sauce
From the popular South London based street food kitchen, comes a hot sauce that not only contains roasted Scotch Bonnets, but it’s also made with Brick Brewery’s Blenheim Black beer. Well, that’s different! I didn’t quite know what to expect as I’m not a huge fan of drinking beer, but this hot sauce really surprised me in a good way. Whilst the beer is definitely a key element in this sauce, as it’s been infused with the chillies and the other ingredients, it takes on a really unique and multi-dimensional flavour that’s utterly delicious. It offers a spicy kick, but like the Baj sauce above, it’s not a crazy hot one, so it adds a lovely subtle heat to food. Although I’ve only had this box for a week, this bottle is half empty already as it’s been very popular in my household! Love Corn Habanero
Habaneros are one of my favourite types of chillies and I thoroughly enjoyed this bag of ‘Love Corn’ which uses just four simple ingredients (corn, habanero chilli, sunflower oil and sea salt) to make a tasty savoury snack. These are satisfyingly crunchy, high in fibre, low in sugar, gluten-free, and go well with a cold glass of Cider. Mmmmmm.Prices Spices Horners Aftermath Plum & Moruga Scorpion Jam
This plum jam comes with a warning of four out of five chillies on the side thanks to the inclusion of the sinister sounding Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Chilli – the world’s second hottest chilli (the Carolina Reaper being the first). Despite this jam only using 0.7% of this scorchingly hot chilli, it still packs one hell of punch after your taste buds are fooled by the initial sugary tart sweetness of the plums, and gives you a nice slow burn afterwards. I’ve been eating a little of this (you really don’t need a lot!) with cheese sandwiches and I love the sweet and savoury combination.Burningsweets – The Brutal
Being a student, it’s always fun to come across a box of incredibly hot sweets to taunt your housemates with, and with a name like ‘Burningsweets’, I knew these were going to be entertaining! These sweets look innocent enough as they’re small hard candies, but trust me, they will make your eyes water within a few seconds as they also contain the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Chilli. Some of my friends couldn’t hold on to these for long, and even I have to admit that they were pretty damn hot!Chimoulis Coffee Chilli Salted Caramel
After those crazy burning sweets, it was a pleasure to try something more mild and soothing, and this small jar of Chimoulis’ latest invention was just what I needed. I’ve tried this companies’ original Chilli Salted Caramel in a previous Lick My Dip box and loved that, so I was pleased to see this new flavour included in this month’s box. The added coffee takes this chilli salted caramel to whole new level of awesomeness, and the combination of all of those flavours can be tasted in every spoonful. It’s hard not to eat this directly from the jar and I certainly won’t judge you if you do!
