Nowadays, you can find a subscription box for just about anything, and I always enjoy coming across the slightly more unusual ones which are aimed at people who are looking for a unique gift.
Socks are a hugely popular gift option for men, and the London Sock Company were quick to fill this gap in the market when they started up their brand back in 2013. They are a little different to other subscription boxes as they sell a gift card that enables the recipient to activate their subscription on the London Sock Company website. From there, they can fill out their profile including delivery details, size etc and they can then either choose the socks that they want to receive every month or they can let the London Sock Company surprise them.
All of the socks are luxury and high-quality and there’s a fantastic selection of designs and colours to choose from. There’s certainly an emphasis on designs that would suit ‘modern gentlemen’ so they’re perfect for men who enjoy fashion and take pride in what they wear.
Depending on the gift card/subscription that you choose, you can have 1, 2 or 3 pairs of socks delivered every month, with prices starting from £10. The minimum term for a subscription is 3 months with the London Sock Company, so for that option, you would receive 1 pair of socks every month for the next 3 months.
I was kindly given a 3-month subscription to try out and received the first pair of socks last week. My male housemate Dan will be helping me out of course!
The socks arrived in an A4 sized, thin cardboard envelope that fitted nicely through the letterbox. There’s a lot of attention to detail that has gone into the presentation, and I was pleased to see the socks carefully wrapped in tissue paper inside.
The pair of socks that we received this month is called ‘Spot Of Style Navy‘ and they’ve been designed by Martina Milana, who is a London College of Fashion student. Inspired by the classic movie, ‘Roman Holidays’, this collection features polka dots and a ‘timeless sense of style’.
I love the embroidery detailing on these and the contrast of navy with burnt orange has a lovely old-school feel, but it still retains a bit of a contemporary twist and looks rather dapper!
The socks are finely knitted from a blend of luxury Scottish Isle Cotton (80%), Polyamide (18%) and Elastane (2%), which makes them soft and comfortable to wear, yet helps them to maintain a strong and durable element so that they will last. It’s recommended that the socks are hand washed at no higher than 30 degrees to keep them looking their best for longer.
Dan’s verdict? He said they were very comfortable, and that he loved the design which has helped to jazz up his boring sock collection. Big thumbs up from Dan!
