LookFantastic – August 2020: Radiance

It’s the time of the month for the latest LookFantastic box and as with the July box, this one comes in two variations. The theme of both beauty boxes is ‘radiance’ so all of the items are about skincare saviours, positivity and summer focused items. For the previous two boxes, there hasn’t been a magazine within the box; thankfully it is included in the August edition.

I’ll start today’s review with the contents of the second variation of the August box which is worth £64.68. Both boxes contain six beauty items, most, if not all, are smaller sizes. The brands range from Mio and Percy and Reed to Ahava, REN, Caudalie and more. I always love the variety of items and brands within their boxes and this month is no different!

Ahava Dead Sea Mineral Water Body Lotion (40ml, £8)

First up, the two body care items in the box. Ahava is a brand that has been included in a previous box and I’m glad to have another item as I loved their bath salts. The lotion is one of the three items included within both boxes; although you could also receive the Ahava hand cream instead. The lotion has such a lovely summery and fresh scent that is perfect for this time of the year!

Mio Sun-Drenched Body Wash (30ml, £3.15)

Next up is an unusual body wash as it is described as a ‘micellar cleanser’ for the body and it contains shimmer. I haven’t tried a product like this before although I adore the liquid yoga bath soak from this brand! The body wash smells so sweet and almost good enough to eat so I can’t wait to try this product.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum (10ml, £5.33)

Caudalie is one of my favourite skincare brands so I’m always happy to receive more of their products. The serum is designed to lighten dark spots in just four weeks which is very impressive. The product itself feels silky smooth and leaves the skin moisturised, smooth and smelling lovely.

REN Evercalm Global Protection day Cream

I used up a full bottle of this gorgeous, gentle moisturiser years ago and my sensitive skin adored it. I thankfully don’t have eczema on my face anymore but I think my skin will still love this product. It is a fantastic moisturiser for those with dry and sensitive skin.

Avant Deluxe Hyaluronic Acid Night Cream (10ml)

The final skincare item is a mini night cream that contains hyaluronic acid to help reduce the signs of ageing, restore moisture and balance oil production. It feels like a very rich night cream so I think it would be great for those with dry skin, like me.

Percy and Reed Turn Up The Volume Mousse (50ml, £8)

The last item within the second variation is a hair mousse from Percy and Reed. It provides long lasting volume without a stiff or greasy feeling to the hair. I don’t tend to use mousse as growing up in the 90’s left me with awful memories of sticky and crunchy hair that I don’t want to relive. However, this one sounds great and I love the brand so I’ll give it a go.

Ahava Lotion, Mio Body Wash and Caudalie Serum

Both variations of the boxes have three of the same items. The Ahava lotion, Mio body wash and the Caudalie serum are all present in both variations. Out of the three, I think the Ahava lotion and Caudalie serum are my favourites! As well as the slightly different products, the value of each box is different with the first variation (reviewed below) being £59.48.

Percy and Reed Wonder Balm (30ml, £8)

Instead of the Percy and Reed mousse, within the first variation you will receive their wonder balm. It is a hair primer and smoother that I’ve been using on and off for a few months as I already have a mini size. It works wonders when it comes to reducing frizz and smoothing my hair!

Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara (4ml, £10)

Unlike the second variation, there are two makeup items in this selection. The first is a mini mascara from Eyeko. You could either receive the ‘black magic’ option or the ‘lash alert’ mascara, I received the latter. I’ve tried quite a few mascaras from Eyeko over the years and I’ve loved all of them. However, I think my favourite are Black Magic, followed by their Yoga waterproof mascara.

Bella Pierre Mineral Bush in Amaretto (6g, £15)

Last but not least for today’s mammoth review of the August box is a blush from Bella Pierre, which is a brand often found in beauty subscription boxes. Sadly, I’m not a blush wearer so this is the one item out of both variations of the August box that I’m not excited about unfortunately. The shade ‘amaretto’ is a pretty almost terracotta shade that would be great during the summer for most skin tones but I don’t think it would look as beautiful on my ghostly pale skin, in my opinion.

Our score: 10.0/ 10

Overall, I love both variations of the August LookFantastic box but I think that the second variation including the REN day cream is my favourite. I personally like the idea of a couple of variations of the monthly box as it adds to the mystery and surprise each month!
