My Geek Box – January 2020

My Geek Box is exactly as it sounds – a box of geeky stuff! There’s no theme or menu, you simply get a selection of items from a huge assortment of geeky franchises.
It costs from £19.99 a month, including postage.
This month’s t-shirt features Hellboy. The picture has him with his original unfiled horns. It’s a great graphic, but my repeated complaint  is that they are polycotton rather than 100% cotton. My Geek Box does excellent t-shirt designs but the quality is not the best.
This is a Mightly Muggs Wolverine Figure. This is a cross between a figure and a toy, because it’s actually interactive! YOu press down on the head and the mouth changes, from the smile you seen, to a downturned mouth, to bared teeth. It’s pretty fun, and retails at £9.99.

We’ve seen Funko Dorbz figures in previous boxes. This one is from Disney, and it’s once of the princesses, Belle from Beauty and the Beast. In this version she’s wearing her non-princess costume. You can usually buy this for around £6.
I’m excited to see a new franchise here – Firefly! I’m a huge fan of the show but I’ve never seen any of the merchandise.
It’s Simon Tam. The series is called Qm Mini Masters Figures Little Damn Heroes. Again this is a slightly more unusual character to have, but as I adore Firefly I’m very pleased with this. It cost £7.99 on Amazon.
Another well known sci-fi franchise, Docto
Tr Who. This is a Silurian Warrior from Season 5.
The figure is cast metallic resin, and apparently it’s hand painted too! I discovered this figure originally came as a set with a Doctor Who magazine.
Finally, we have a figure of Bubble from the series Valerian. Back in November was another figure from this series. It’s quite a nice figure but it’s very hard to find online so hard to price.

Our score: 8.4/ 10

Overall I'm pretty impressed. My Geek Box are continuing to improve after rather a dodgy patch last year, so it's good to see they're putting out more variety. I think the Dorbz and Mighty Muggs figures are definitely the best, and their retail price is pretty close to the cost of the box. I'm hoping the Firefly figure will mean more from this franchise, as it has a great cult following and lots of geek appeal. I'm less impressed with the Valerian figure, because I'm not familiar with the franchise and it doesn't seem to have a wide appeal online. However the other items more than make up for it. All they need to do is put their cool t-shirt designs on a fabric that doesn't make you hot and sweaty!
