My Geek Box is exactly as it sounds – a box of geeky stuff! There’s no theme or menu, you simply get a selection of items from a huge assortment of geeky franchises. It costs from £19.99 a month, including postage. The box is rather large, and I think a standardized size, because the size of contents varies from month to month. There’s slightly less space than normal, which is good to see.A Funko Pop! figure – Shuri from Black Panther. Pop figures are always fun, and this one has great detailing in the costuming and hair.It also includes a stand, which is necessary as the weight of the head and design makes it fall forward when standing on its feet.My Geek Box seems to have quite a lot of Fallout merchandise at the moment. This is a Fallout Magnetic Bottle Opener. It’s the same Sunset Sarsaparilla design as the pin in the September box, but this is actually a fun and useful item. The magnet means it’s easy to keep to hand on the fridge. This is a figurine of Commander Arun Flitt from the movie Valerian. I have to admit this movie completely passed me by, and it didn’t get great reviews, but the figure is nice enough, die cast resin with some nice detailing. This month’s t-shirt is really cool. It’s obviously supposed to represent Jurassic Park, with the skull logo and the velociraptor, but while it isn’t official merchandise it’s a fantastic design, especially the yellow warning colour.I have to say my heart sank at these final items.Yet more from the Star Trek Graphic Novel Collection. This is the fourth month in a row (and also June) that two of these books have been included. This time they’re not even consecutive numbers.I think this is incredibly poor form to have these books yet again. I’m very happy to have books, but I don’t want endless Star Trek. This seriously looks like they have overstock they’re desperately trying to get rid of, and it gives a very bad impression.
As I said, I'm deeply unimpressed with the books. Enough already. Other than that, the items are pretty good, I like the bottle opener and the POP. I'm not really interested in the Valerian figure, it seems a little bit obscure, and I can't find any reviews of it anywhere on the internet so it doesn't seem to be a particularly popular item in geek culture. The t-shirt is my favourite, it's such fun and I adore Jurassic Park! So a bit of a mixed bag, but an improvement on last month.
