Fancy treating yourself to a wine subscription box? My VitiBox carefully selects the very best French wines and delivers them via courier into the UK so that you can sample and savour them at home. Each bottle is chosen by the famed sommelier Philippe Defleur (former sommelier of La Tour d’Argent and the Élysée Palace), and you’ll also receive a copy of his Tasting Notes to help you get the most out of them.
Unfortunately, the May box was delayed due to the current COVID-19 situation, but it arrived yesterday and the wines are exceptional quality as always! There was no Tasting Notes or booklet provided though (I’m not sure if there have been printing or packaging problems etc), so I’m unable to provide the history info of the wines, but I can give a quick description of each one.
Here’s what was inside the Colours and Flavours subscription from My VitiBox:-
Pays D’Oc Sillages Albariño 2019
A stunning white wine which is clearly labelled suitable for vegans on the bottle, I thoroughly enjoyed this fresh and fruity taste of summer. It’s very elegant and refined with fresh and floral notes throughout that pay homage to its Mediterranean influences since it’s created in the Puichéric region in the beautiful south of France. This is a wine that you’ll want to drink every summer!
Domaine Brunely Cuvée Hommage 2018
Many of the best reds are sourced from the famous Côtes Du Rhône region of France and this one is no exception to that rule. A fantastic example of what the appellation has to offer, this fine red is a mixed composition of Grenache (50%), Syrah (30%) and Carignan à Hauteur grapes which gives this wine a complex flavour. With an explosive and expressive aroma, it will entice you in as soon as it’s poured into the glass with its rich dark red allure, it’s a mighty and bold wine to enjoy with friends and family once lockdown is over.
