Costa D’Oru Casanova 2019
History: This elegant bottle of red comes from Corsica, also known as the Isle of Beauty which is one of France’s most popular tourist destinations. It is also a land well known for winemaking and is home to some of the finest grapes in all of France. Crafted by Vigerons d’Aghione, this wine is famous for using locally produced grapes called Niellucciu since 1975 for a very special flavour and result.
Grape: 80% Niellucciu & 20% Syrah
Senses: A shiny and bright cherry red in the glass, this wine has a pleasant and expressive aroma. Its fresh and light body has light tannins with a smooth texture and delicious notes of Blueberry, Cocoa Bean and Thyme. It pairs well with starters such as Bruschetta and desserts like Blueberry Pana Cotta.
Château Famaey Malbec Cahors 2018
History: Château Famaey is the business of two Belgian friends who purchased a winery in Cahors in 2001. The 40 hectares estate produces some of the finest Malbec wines in the region and the clay soil of the local environment helps to produce juicy grapes with fresh and fruity flavours.
Grape: 100% Malbec.
Senses: In the glass, this wine has a deep and shiny purple-red appearance which is matched by a pleasant and expressive aroma mainly of fruits. Its fresh and bone-dry with marked tannins and a smooth texture. Noticeable flavours arising from the wine are Blackberry, Fig and Clove, as well as candied fruits and spices. It pairs well with Coriander Samosas, roasted Lamb dishes and desserts such as Roasted Figs and Chocolate Sauce.
