nomakenolife is a monthly subscription box of Japanese cosmetics and beauty products. Japanese women take their skincare very seriously, and their beauty products are superb quality. They are also very big on products which contain natural ingredients, including collagen, and avoiding harsh chemicals.

They have one-, three-, six-, and 12-month subscriptions costing $29.99, $29.00, $28.33, and $27.50 per month respectively. At current exchange rates this is £21.16, £20.47, £19.99, and £19.41. Shipping is free.

 

nmnl is part of the TokyoTreat group, who also produce TokyoTreat, a lovely box of Japanese snacks, and YumeTwins, an equally lovely box of kawaii Japanese goodies.

Here is their shipping box. I love their branding; it’s simple but striking, and the box itself is nice and robust.

First, a Colour Mud Pack. This is one of four coloured masks. The idea is that you can paint your face with a nourishing face masks! This one is Charcoal Black, which is moisturizes and clears pores. Possible alternatives were Peach Rose, Leaf Green, and Drop Blue. They all have a light bergamot scent.

This Profael’s Oil & Water W Essence is great for dry winter skin. Shake the two layers together and apply to your skin. It’s suitable for both body and face.

Metallic Lip Gloss comes in three possible colours. This Queen Red version is a deep colour, and has a definite metallic sheen.

Another great winter item, this Country and Stream Honey Hand Cream is wonderful for dry hands. It also has a pleasant honey scent.

This Kumawash Eye Lift Wash is designed to help remove dark circles under the eyes. It’s a foaming bar, and contains collagen to mosturize.

I think the items this month are fantastic. The only one I’m less sure about is the lip gloss, because it’s a bit strong for me. However I’ve been waiting ages for another facewash, and this one is really nice, lovely soft foam, and doesn’t dry the skin.

The hand cream is great in this cold season, and it smells lovely. The moisturizing body oil is also very useful, much like the hand cream, as my skin gets very dry in cold weather.

I think the face mask looks like a lot of fun, though I would have loved to get one of the other colours. But I love the moisturizing aspect of it, again, dry winter skin, and I’m probably more likely to use it properly all over my face as it’s a slightly less fun colour so I’ll be less tempted to just draw a few crazy patterns!

Now to value. As these are all Japanese brands it’s often very difficult to find prices on these, so I’m not going to do an individual breakdown. I will say that I’ve never had a box that wasn’t good value for money.

I actually found the hand cream on Amazon for £12.59!

As for the rest, they can’t easily be found on western-oriented Google, though I’m sure if I was in Japan it’d be much easier to track them down!

I’m always confident that nomakenolife provide lovely quality skincare items, and I’ve always enjoyed using them. I’m very happy that this month there’s such an emphasis on moisturizing items, as that’s really useful at this time of year.
