Honey features in my daily food choices A LOT. I have it in porridge, on toast and occasionally in fruit tea. I’m also pretty picky with the taste and taste can vary drastically between different brands.
When One Hundred Acre sent me a pot of their honey to review, my instinct was to immediately crack open the bread, toast it and delve into running-honey-goodness – yum.
One Hundred Acre have several different flavours of Honey on their website, ranging from Manuka, Greek Honey and Spanish Lavender to name a few. The one I received is called New Zealand Clover.
Beautifully packaged in it’s very own box, the experience of receiving a luxury honey begins when you greet the postman.
The description on the inside of the box describes the New Zealand Clover honey as:
“A delicate, mild and creamy honey with a fruity twist. Smooth in texture and perfect on toast or in your morning tea.”
The fruit notes are definitely prominent within the taste of this honey. It’s smooth and creamy, yet delicate too. However, I can detect a slight warmth, not spicy as such – but a mild heat on the back of the throat which is hugely satisfying to the palette.
When eating this with my usual greek yogurt and strawberries, the flavour of the honey complimented my breakfast hugely – more so than my usual brand.
I’m looking forward to sampling this on various other things over the coming week.
One Hundred Acre are relatively new to the box world and have some interesting sounding honey names on their site – I’d like to see a description of taste next to each honey choice to see what sounds appealing, but I’m sure as this family-run business grows and develops so will their honey range and descriptions.
With this subscription, every month you’ll receive a new honey to try. Prices start from £11.99 per month.
