Secret Scent Box

Perfume is a very personal thing, and it can be both difficult and expensive figuring out what kind you like. If you enjoy discovering and wearing scent, the Secret Scent Box is the terrific way to try out a huge range of different perfumes. Every month you get three 5ml bottles though the letterbox, plus guidance notes.

This month we have fragrances from three famous brands that are known for fashion as well as perfume.

The box is small and compact so fits perfectly through the letterbox.

Inside you have the three little spray vials of scent, plus a card for each scent.

Michael Kors – White Luminous Gold

I really like this scent. The amber note lasts beautifully, and it has lovely spicy undertones. Its definitely on the sweet side but it’s tempered by a slight sharpness that stops it from being sicky. And despite the sweetness there is a slight woody note that means this could work as a unisex scent as well.

Abercrombie & Fitch – Authentic Night Femme

This is a new scent released only last year. The fruity scent hits you immediately, and while it’s sweet and pleasant, the woody base notes open out after a few minutes for a much more rounded and spicy scent. Initially I thought it was a very summery fragrance, but after a little bit of time I think this is nicely suited to a more autumnal or summer night feeling.

Davidoff – Cool Water Mera Collector for women

Cool Water has been around a long time, but this latest iteration from the Cool Water line is again a new scent, released last year. It’s all about the freshness, with a combination of citrus and floral notes. The green mandarin is very prominent at the start but mellows into a lovely combination of the magnolia and tuberose. A terrific feminine scent for the summertime.

I like the balance of this month's selections. I've found before that they tend more towards the floral and feminine with just one which is on the spicier side. As my personal preference is for the less floral, I love that I have two to choose from this month! I love them both, but I think the Michael Kors just edges ahead as my absolute favourite. Apart from the lovely fragrances, I think the little bottles are so convenient. They are portable, which means you can top up during the day, and there is plenty between all three bottles to keep you going for a month. This is a terrific way to learn more about scent, and to get an idea of the kind of fragrances you like and which suit you!
