It’s time for tryout of this month’s selection of perfumes from Secret Scent Box! Perfume is such a personal thing, so this is an excellent way to try out different scents without having to commit to big bottles.
The box fits right through the mailbox and contains three little spray vials. They are the perfect size, as all three should last about a month, and you can also function as handy travel-sizes for your handbag or washbag.
Also included are three cards, each with description and scent notes. This is incredibly useful, as scent profiles, notes etc. can be very varying, so this can really help you narrow down what types of scents you enjoy.
Moschino – Fresh Couture
This is a lovely fresh scent that works really well for spring and summer daytimes. The citrus and bergamot give a lively crispness, and then sweeter florals dry down nicely after a little while. It becomes quite subtle after a while, and reapplication would be necessary later in the day, but overall this is a great perfume, particularly for the younger end of the market.
Oh, and the bottle is absolutely brilliant!
Davidoff – Cool Water Parfum
This perfume was launched just last year. Despite rose being the top note, I find it a more ‘green’ rose scent that overly floral, which is refreshing. It doesn’t hugely develop over time, but the scent itself is impressively long-lasting. The tonka bean base note gives a lovely roundness, and again, not being overly flowery means that it’s quite sophisticated rather than girlish. It’s still feminine, though I think it’s almost edging into unisex.
Vera Wang – Woman
This was the first Vera Wang fragrance, and unsurprisingly was marketed at brides! I find the floral notes quite soapy (not that it’s a bad thing) and give an overall white flower impression rather than individual flowers. That being said, it lasts nicely, it’s clean and a very pretty scent. I think it would work very nicely as a spring.summery everyday scent.
