With the end of the summer term fast approaching we were glad to get another toucanBox through the door! We kept the July box aside to use in the school holidays; however we were gifted with a rainy day mid-month so we opened it up early. These are aimed at children aged three to eight with lots of fun filled activities to keep young minds, and hands, busy.
What was in the box?
- Create a planetary space poster kit
- Make your own dream catcher kit
- A fun filled magazine packed with additional activities and ideas
- Set of stickers
- A secret surprise gift (ours was a fridge magnet)
- All in a personalised box.
Space-based fun
The planet poster kit was so much fun. Using coffee filter paper, felt tip pens, coloured tissue, a water dropper you can create different ‘planets’ to then stick into the poster itself. There were also space themed stickers and some glow in the dark stars to add to the poster too.
We spent hours doing this activity. My seven year old usually loses interest after a while but this one really kept him interested. It was really fun trying to use different techniques to get the different colours and effects for the different planets. Although we were a bit sad that Pluto wasn’t featured!
Dream catcher
We already have one of these so decided that we would make this one for my niece. It was easy enough for a seven year old although he did need a hand for a few parts. We were really pleased with how it turned out.
Fun-filled magazine
Once again, our box included stickers and an activity packed magazine with lots of STEM based activities. Our favourite was the feature on making your own juggling balls which we’ve saved for another time.
We also had a secret surprise gift of a bright and fun fridge magnet. The little additional gifts are only small pieces but part of the fun is guessing just what it might be!
