YumeTwins is a monthly box of Japanese kawaii products from Tokyo. It is part of the TokyoTreat subscription box group which also includes TokyoTreat and nomakenolife.
At the beginning of this year YumeTwins revamped their line, and now offer in each box five kawaii items including plushies and lifestyle goods plus premium anime brands.
They have one-, three-, six-, and 12-month subscriptions costing $29.99, $29.00, $28.33, and $27.50 per month respectively. At current exchange rates this is £23.09, £22.33, £21.82, and £21.18. Shipping is free.
This month’s theme, appropriately enough, is Summer Holiday. It’s unaccountably cold and rainy outside at the moment (hello British summer) but this the goodies in the box certainly make up of a bit of rain!
The shipping box is such a lovely cheery colour, and it’s very easy to spot at the sorting office when I inevitably miss the postman!
Their menu booklet always has cool artwork. If you look carefully on the cover you can see a little sneak preview of what’s inside!
Let’s take a look at the menu. They always have details about what’s in the box, as well as some fun trivia about Japan.
My daughter spotted this immediately when she was reading through the menu. She decided that this is one of the places we have to visit when we go to Japan. Fine with me, it looks awesome!
OK, let’s look at the fun stuff.
This is this month’s featured item. YumeTwins has been trailing these cool Sailor Moon Playing Cards on social media for a while now. The illustrations have a great 90s throwback feel.
Some really fierce pictures there! Playing cards are always so useful to have around, and these are a lot more fun than your standard deck.
How cute are these Kawaii Adhesive Bandages? These are the Bonjour Cat designs, one of a possible four in the box. I’m a huge fan of decorated plasters, as I was never allowed them as a child. Now I have a child of my own I have the perfect excuse to buy them! These are a great addition to our collection.
By coincidence they also came in useful a little later that day!
Here is a great travel item, a My Melody Dental Travel Kit.
It includes a lovely compact toothbrush and little tube of toothpaste. As I always hate having a toothbrush loose in my washbag, this is the perfect solution! The container is perfect for a rinsing cup.
It’s the most kawaii way to maintain good dental hygiene on your travels!
I’ve seen these blind boxes before, and I love them. The Re-Ment Sanrio x Japanese Goods Blind Box contains miniature Sanrio character in a selection of Japanese food and cultural scenarios. The various options are listed on the box.
I got the ‘Dolls’ version! Aren’t they cute? They’re incredibly tiny too, not much more than an inch high. Despite their size they’re incredibly detailed.
Do you recognize the characters? They are Little Twin Stars, and the fed-up looking statue on the right is Badzt-Maru. I love their tiny cake and knife too. Adorable!
OK, I’ve saved the best to last.
It’s Donald Duck Disney Squishy ‘Potemochi’ Plush! Donald was one of five possible characters, and I’m so glad I got this one!
He’s even got a tiny little fluffy tail!
Just gorgeous.
In case you’re wondering, Potemochi comes from two Japanese words: potteri which means plump, and mocchiri, which describes a soft texture.
He is indeed both plump and gloriously soft. Here is little C demonstrating his softness and squishyness:
So there you have this month’s dose of kawaii cuteness!
I really like how so many of these items are both cute and practical. The plasters are incredibly useful, and the dental travel kit is going straight into my washbag.
You can never have too many packs of playing cards, and the Sailor Moon illustrations are a lot of fun to look at too.
I love miniature things, and the little blind box sets are just incredibly attractive to display, as well as being nicely detailed. They have the added bonus of not taking up much room!
And as for the plushie, what’s not to love? He’s so delicious and cuddly, and there is something extremely pleasing about his round shape. I’m having to fight Little C for the cuddles! (I let her win. Sometimes.)
On to value. Because these items come directly from Japan and are effectively unavailable outside Asia I’m not going to do a detailed breakdown.
I had a little look for blind boxes, and while I couldn’t find this exact one, similar items start at around £7 on Amazon.
Plushies of this size are going to be a tenner at least.
When you add in the playing cards (good quality), the travel set, and the plasters, there’s no question you’re getting great value for money here. Many, if not all of these items are difficult to impossible to find in the UK. At least without an awful lot of googling and postage costs!
While the holiday theme is most pertinent when it comes to the travel set and plasters, every one of these items has brightened my day.
I’m a huge fan of YumeTwins, and this month’s box is absolutely terrific! Great Job YumeTwins!
