YumeTwins is a monthly box of Japanese kawaii products from Tokyo. It is part of the TokyoTreat subscription box group which also includes TokyoTreat and nomakenolife. Each box contains 5 kawaii items including plushies and lifestyle goods plus premium anime brands.
They have one-, three-, six-, and 12-month subscriptions costing $35.00, $33.50, $32.00, and $31.50 per month respectively (from around £25).
This month we have another of YumeTwins’ fantastic special-themed boxes: Ghibli Lunch Date.
Any fan of the Japanese kawaii aesthetic will know about the wonderful animations from Studio Ghibli, including Kiki’s Delivery Service, and of course Totoro.
The menu booklet tells you all about the goodies inside, and there’s also a fascinating little bit about the different ways to tie reuseable cloth wraps, which are very popular in Japan. Not only are they useful as eco-friendly food wrapping, they are also a lovely way to wrap gifts.
Ghibli Microwaveable Containers, Small and Large
These adorable containers feature either Totoro or Jiji, from Kiki’s Delivery Service. They are both suitable for use in the microwave if you want to reheat your food (there’s even a little steam vent) but they are also perfect for use as a picnic lunch or bento box. You could even use them for storing leftovers.
Totoro Floral Mug
This cute mug features Totoro in his garden, and is a great compact size for picnicking or packed lunch. You can also use it for hot drinks, as it’s safe in the microwave and for hot drinks, and you can even put in through the dishwasher.
Totoro Floral Cloth Wrap
This is one of three possible options, all with the same adorable Totoro in the flowers design as the mug. There is a plain cloth wrap (and you can refer to the booklet for ways to fold it), a bottle bag, and this drawstring bag. It’s the perfect size for popping in a sandwich or some fruit, though you could use it for anything you like!
Ghibli Hot ‘n’ Cold Lunch Bag
This gorgeous lunch bag pulls the whole selection together. It’s one of three cute designs, the others being the floral Totoro and Jiji as seen on the bento boxes.
The bag is insulated so perfect for keeping food both hot and cold, and the zippered opening is reinforced so it keeps its shape when you open it out. It’s the perfect size for lunch on the go, or for keeping hot or cold items when out on a picnic. And of course the design is just gorgeous!
