October means Halloween, and while it’s not a traditional Japanese holiday, kawaii culture has fully embraced the aesthetic!
This month’s box from YumeTwins is called Kawaii Halloween Party. The menu booklet tells you all about each item inside the box.
There’s also lots of information about how Halloween is celebrated in Japan, and there’s even a recipe for Japanese pancakes (more about that later).
YumeTwins Original Magical Nyan Nyan Haloween Plush
YumeTwins has their own special cat mascot, Nyan Nyan, and they create adorable and exclusive themed plushies of this little character for their boxes. This month we have her dressed up as a spooky witch, complete with embroidered bat decoration, tiny fangs, and of course an adorable witch’s hat! Super soft and cuddly, these exclusive plushes really are a treat.
Mofusand Cat Postcard, Kawaii Cat Shaped Silicone Mould
This is one of four postcard designs by the Japanese artist Juno, who specialises in adorable cat drawings. Mofu-mofu means something fluffy and soft in Japanese, so you can get the idea behind the name! My design is especially cute wearing a little pumpkin outfit and carrying a wand, and the expression on its face is utterly adorable.
Keeping with the cat theme, the cake mould can be used for cakes, jelly, or as suggested in the menu booklet, a fluffy Japanese pancake! This is a delicious type of food that’s like a cross between a souffle and a pancake, and are found all over Japan. There’s a proper recipe in the booklet which is perfect for this little mould.
Sailor Moon Acrylic Stand Keychain
One of 11 characters, this features features the famous anime character in one of various outfits. Sailor Moon is a popular character for Halloween costumes, and this acrylic keychain also includes a stand so can be used as a little ornament.
YumeTwins Exclusive Cinnamoroll Halloween Macaron Pouch
Sanrio has combined the delicious confection of the macaron with the classic kawaii pouch to make this cute design featuring the adorable white puppy Cinnamoroll. Zipped pouches like this are incredibly popular, as they can be hung from bags with the chain attachment, or used as a purse. This is an exclusive design with Sanrio, with Cinnamoroll – wearing a witch’s hat – on a fluffy orange macaron-like purse. It’s so thick and soft it’s almost like a plush itself, and is a terrific kawaii Halloween design.
