This was a real change for me to try and as soon as I received the January ZBOX delivery I knew I was going to love it. What you get each month for £19.49 (based on a three month subscription) is a themed geek style box which is full of exclusive merchandise usually well over £35.00 making it very good value for money. Firstly let me tell you as soon as I opened up the box I knew this was something I would love, the nondescript monochrome box once opened reveals a fantastically illustrated box inside – worth keeping just for the artwork as it looks amazing. The surprise of what you will get each month is the clincher here I feel. If you have signed up for this box then you will be a keen SciFi/Geek enthusiast like me and to get sample every month of some top exclusive licensed merchandise with a real mix from comics to t-shirts, this is a perfect subscription box for the nerd in me.
January’s box had the fantastic artwork in the theme of Mad Max as did the Chatty Feet socks ‘Max Sockatansky’ which are exclusive to this box. A little big for my feet in a size 9-12 (as they don’t specify shoe size when you order a subscription) but none the less a really fun pair of socks which you just can’t get anywhere else. The design is on the top and underside of the socks and they are a comfy pair of socks albeit a little big.
The Nuka-Cola Fallout 4 Keyring from Bioworld Europe really stood out as it is so unique and collectable, and gamers will love the shaped Nuka Cola bottle top with the classic ridged edging in black and grey. This is ideal for keys, belts and bags and it’s good to see some merchandise from a popular game such as Fallout 4.
The Doctor Who Collectors Edition Construction Figure in my box was the Cyberman and as there is no glueing or sticking involved it was really easy to put together, which I did right away being a huge Dr Who fan. There is a collection of these limited editions and as I have had a taste of one, I have to say as a fan I would go out and collect the lot.
Great to see a novel in the ZBOX – The Martian by Andy Weir recently made into a huge blockbuster movie starring Matt Damon 20th Century Fox directed by Ridley Scott. I haven’t quite finished the book yet but I’ve been really enjoying it and surprisingly the mix of comedy and intense drama works really well. I’m glad I haven’t seen the film yet though as it often spoils the enjoyment of reading the book.
Batman: Arkham Knight Genesis #1 Comic was included written by Peter J.Tomasi and is wonderfully illustrated by Alisson Borges, a six issue mini series with gritty artwork and excellent story lines. Also included in the box is the Marvel 2016 calendar, looking great on my wall and each month reveals a different Marvel character in all their colourful glory. Adding in the Marvel/Disney/Lucas Films preview comic book gives a taste of seven of the new Star Wars comics, ideal to take a look at the new look comics and go on to choose your favourite to buy.
The Marvel mini Spider-Man Munny figure is such a fun addition from Kid Robot and I have a small collection of figures that this will fit nicely with. It comes ready for you to design yourself with a kit of stickers and even webs, you can dress the little Spider-Man up with a classic, modern or even glow in the dark look. Or what I love about this range is that you can even draw or paint on it to customise it further.
I thought this month’s box was very good value for money, and had some great products which some were exclusive to the ZBOX, I love this point as it’s great to have such unique items. If this is a taster of what the ZBOX has to offer I would highly recommend the ZBOX if you like the SciFi/Geek/Nerd/Gamer themed box – they even include t-shirts (they take your size when you subscribe) in some boxes and also leave a taster of what to expect in the following months box. February’s box sees the Killer theme and I for one am really looking forward to seeing what’s inside.
